Our welcome
Nau mai, haere mai ki He Wāhi Haumaru – A safe space to feed pēpi. We’re creating something special here, a movement that celebrates every feeding journey, every choice, and every whānau. Whether you’re seeking a comfortable spot for a feed or wanting to make your space more welcoming, you’ve found your people.

For over a decade, we have been walking alongside whānau through their feeding journeys. What began with Breastfeeding NZ’s online community has grown into a powerful collaboration with Women’s Health Action and Canterbury Breastfeeding Advocacy Service. Together, we share a vision where every café, every library, every community space can be a haven for parents and pēpi.
Our kaupapa is simple but powerful. Inspired by te pā harakeke, we know it takes a village to raise a child, and we’re building that village one safe space at a time. When you see the He Wāhi Haumaru tohu/symbol displayed, you’ll know you’re somewhere that gets it, somewhere that celebrates feeding pēpi as the natural, beautiful act it is.
Remember, it takes a whānau to feed a pēpi.
You’ve got this, we’ve got you.
Kei a koe tēnei. Kei a mātou koe hoki.
