Who We Are

He Wāhi Haumaru is a movement powered by 3 committed partners working together across Aotearoa.

Breastfeeding NZ

Breastfeeding NZ maintains thriving online communities, creating digital spaces where over 100,000 whānau connect daily. They ensure our social media presence reflects and supports our diverse communities.

Women’s Health Action

Women’s Health Action is a national not-for-profit charity committed to improving health outcomes for women and whānau across Aotearoa. We provide trusted, unbiased health information and support, and advocate for people-centred services and policies.

We founded the Big Latch On and lead inclusive health promotion events. Our resources support whānau with breastfeeding, bottle and formula feeding, and returning to work. We also host the National Find Your Breastfeeding Support Directory, connecting families with local help.

Guided by the belief that “Ina oranga te wāhine, ka ora te whānau, ka ora te hapū, ka ora ngā iwi” — When women are in good health, the whānau, hapū and iwi will flourish — we work to create meaningful change in the lives of communities.

Canterbury Breastfeeding Advocacy Service

The Canterbury Breastfeeding Advocacy Service is a Health Promotion initiative funded by Te Whatu Ora, and managed by Te Puawaitanga ki Ōtautahi Trust. The Canterbury Breastfeeding Advocacy Service aims to advocate for whānau by providing up to date information and education to our community, collaborating with other health professionals, and ensuring that Waitaha is a place where breast/chestfeeding is celebrated. We believe that all whānau have a right to informed consent when it comes to choosing how to feed their pēpi, so we do the informing part.

Infant feeding in all of its forms should be done in spaces and places where everyone feels safe and comfortable.
